I was given my first snare drum when I was eleven and from then on I was hooked! After pestering my parents continuously for two years I had my first full kit when I was Thirteen.

From there I received regular drum tuition from a local pro drummer for three years where I learnt a wealth of information about playing and reading music.

I began working with different funk/soul bands in Brighton playing gigs at all the pubs and clubs. it was then that I decided to make a career from playing the drums, after failing miserably as a gardener and a computer operator, it seemed the obvious choice!

As a professional drummer I became very busy doing a lot of large corporate functions with jazz/dance bands and playing a wide variety of venues including playing at Althorpe house and ascot with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. During my career I have played shows, seasons, pantomimes and cruises and have been involved in various recording projects.

Training

I have trained with many teachers on drum kit and latin percussion, including more recently with Bob Armstrong in London.

Teaching

I have been teaching drums for 15 years in schools and privately from home. I feel my experience as a professional drummer has been an invaluable asset to my teaching.

A more recent venture which I am currently involved with is the highly successful business 'Shake, Rattle and Roll' which I co-run with drummer/percussionist Jim Bernardin. The company was formed 3 years ago to offer school children a chance to experience percussion from around the world. The work we do is great fun and gives us a chance to combine teaching and performing.

Aswell as working full time with 'shake rattle and roll', and teaching, I am continuing to do gigs and recording sessions across the country.
